Our Next Chapter
Transition & Discernment at Resurrection
At Resurrection, seasons of change have often become moments of growth, renewal, and deeper community. As we prepare to call our next rector, we continue gathering for worship, serving our neighbors, and building relationships rooted in faith, compassion, and hope.
This page offers updates, information, and ways to stay connected during this season in the life of our church.

Rector Search Update
The Discernment Committee is now in the confidential interview phase of the rector search. During this stage, the committee is unable to share information about candidates or the number of candidates being considered. Confidentiality protects both the candidates and the congregations they currently serve.
Please continue to keep the Discernment Committee, the Vestry, and all those discerning God's call to Resurrection in your prayers.
Our Parish Profile
Our Parish Profile (also known as the Vocation Hub) introduces Resurrection to clergy discerning a call to serve as our next rector. It reflects the hopes, strengths, and priorities shared by our congregation throughout the discernment process.
Sunday Worship
Resurrection continues to gather each Sunday for worship, prayer, scripture, music, Holy Communion, and fellowship.
During this season, we are grateful to welcome clergy from across the Diocese of Virginia who are helping lead worship and preach with us in the months ahead.
Whether you have been part of Resurrection for decades or are visiting for the first time, you are welcome here.

What does 'Transition' mean?
A period of transition in the Episcopal Church happens when a congregation moves from one clergy leader to another. During this time, the church is guided by the Bishop and diocesan staff through a season of prayer, reflection, and discernment as we seek where God is leading Resurrection in the next chapter of our ministry.
This season is not simply about filling a role. It is an opportunity to reflect on who we are, where God is leading us, and how Resurrection can continue serving Alexandria with faith, compassion, and purpose in the years ahead.
Trusting God Through Change
Resurrection has walked faithfully through seasons of transformation before.
In recent years, the congregation made the bold decision to reimagine part of our property to create affordable housing for working families in Alexandria while building a new church home designed for worship, fellowship, and future ministry.
That spirit of faith, courage, and community continues to shape who we are today.
