About Resurrection

Welcome to Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria, VA

At Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, we believe faith shouldn't stay inside the building. It should show up in the neighborhood, at the dinner table, and in the lives of the people around us.

We're a fully inclusive and LGBTQ-affirming community, and no matter where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here.

Each Sunday we gather for worship and Holy Communion, rooted in Scripture and the Episcopal tradition. Throughout the week, Centering Prayer, Bible Study, and small groups offer space to grow deeper in faith and connection. That faith is lived out in real ways through neighbors served, families supported, and a congregation that truly cares for one another.

Whether you're returning to church after time away, exploring faith for the first time, or simply looking for a community that means what it says, there's a place for you here.

Life at Resurrection

Walk into Resurrection on a Sunday morning and the first thing you notice is the light. High ceilings, wide windows, and a sanctuary that feels open and unhurried even when the pews are full.

The people here are genuinely glad to meet you, and not pushy about it. Resurrection is the kind of place where someone will introduce themselves and remember your name the following week.

Our community extends well beyond Sunday through shared meals, outreach in the neighborhood, and friendships that last.

Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here.

Worship at Resurrection

Our worship is rooted in Scripture and shaped by centuries of Christian tradition.

Each Sunday we read scripture, sing hymns, celebrate Holy Communion, and pray together using words that Christians have prayed for generations.

It is formal enough to feel reverent, and welcoming enough that you will not feel lost.

If you have never attended an Episcopal service before, that is completely fine. You do not need to know the liturgy or have any prior church experience.

We would love to have you join us.

Sundays at Resurrection

Sunday worship is the heart of our life together.

At 8:00 AM, we gather for a quieter, spoken service of Holy Eucharist, offered in person and on Zoom. It draws people who prefer a more contemplative start to their Sunday and runs about an hour.

At 10:00 AM, our larger congregation gathers in person for worship with choir. Children participate in Sunday School during the service.

Afterward, many stay for refreshments, conversation, and an Adult Forum (a time of teaching and open discussion) which begins at 11:10 AM.

Whether you come for worship, fellowship, learning, or simply to sit in prayer, you will be welcomed.
