Welcome from the Rector
At Resurrection we celebrate a religion of search,
not certainty. We wrestle with complex issues and, in seeking the truth, we are led to
listen to and care for one another. Our spirit of openness to one another as we travel our
spiritual journey is clearly evident in the diversity of our congregation, which supports
and upholds members from all walks of life and reflects the rich ethnic, economic, and
lifestyle tapestry of Northern Virginia. Whether you are from a traditional or
non-traditional family, whatever your ethnic background, whether you are a cradle
Episcopalian or have never visited an Episcopal church before, you are welcome to
participate fully in parish life and worship services at the Church of the Resurrection.
Members of our congregation enthusiastically serve the community as "the hands of the
Lord in this place," whether in feeding the homeless, volunteering for the AIDS walk,
leading Boy Scouts, teaching children, tutoring adults, or simply sharing Gods love
through our vocations. Our parish caregivers visit members of our community who are ill,
our choir enriches our worship, and countless hands minister to those within and outside
of our congregation. We find that as we care for others, our own spiritual lives are
immeasurably enriched. You, too, will find help and guidance as you discover opportunities
to care.
Our spirit of inquiry leads us to take advantage of many forms of religious education: a
growing Sunday school, several weekly Bible classes, the nationally renowned Education for
Ministry program, book discussion groups, and discipleship groups.
Members also meet at social events. Strong friendships that extend beyond the church walls
are made and nourished.
If you are looking for a caring community that upholds you in your spiritual journey, as
well as challenges you to serve the larger community, come visit us at Resurrection. We
will be glad to welcome you into our parish family.
Yours in Christ,
Anne Gavin Ritchie, Rector
