Resurrection Outreach Ministries
Coordinator: Lou Aiello

Resurrection Outreach Ministries are coordinated by an informal group of people who care about the local community and who lead congregation-wide efforts supporting community needs for FOOD, FAMILY, and SHELTER.

Our on-going ministries include the following:

bullet

Last Saturday ALIVE! Food Distribution in our parish hall. Volunteers provide hospitality to other volunteers as well as to neighbors who come for food. We bag and distribute groceries from 9:00 - 12:00 on the last Saturday of every month.

bullet

Carpenter's Shelter Meals. We provide dinner to Carpenter's Shelter on the first Sunday of the odd numbered months. The meal is prepared in our kitchen on Sunday afternoon and delivered in the evening.

bullet

Habitat for Humanity. We are a part of the Alexandria Interfaith Coalition for a Habitat Home, and actively participated in the building of the home at 1112 Princess Street, Alexandria, which was opened and dedicated in June, 2004. We continue to support efforts to increase affordable housing in our neighborhoods and support Habitat for Humanity International.

bullet

Collection of Small Household Items. Our Outreach bulletin board continuously offers opportunities to supply small and large needs for household items such as paper towels, shampoo, etc., for ALIVE! House and Carpenters Shelter residents. We deliver these items every few weeks.

bullet

Camping Supplies. Each summer we support Carpenter's Shelter campers going to an Episcopal overnight camp. We contribute money for tuition as well as clothing and camping goods to prepare each camper for an exciting adventure.

bullet

School Supplies. We join other Alexandria churches in collecting school supplies for needy Alexandria school children.

bullet

Christmas Gifts for Network Preschool. Each year we "adopt" a class at Network Preschool and provide Christmas gifts for each child and for the members of their families. Network Preschool offers an academic and social foundation for at-risk children in Alexandria.

The Outreach Group also contributes money from the Parish budget, as it becomes available, for special needs for FOOD, FAMILY, and SHELTER in our community. Please join us in making a difference.
