RESURRECTION CHOIR

Choir Director: Open
Organist/Assistant Choir Director: Sanelma Sutton
e-mail

The music at Resurrection is an important part of our community. Under the direction of  Sanelma Sutton, Organist and Assistant Director, the choir sings at the 10 am Sunday worship service. In addition to supplementing the congregational singing in the service, the choir performs an anthem each Sunday during the Offertory.

The music performed ranges from Bach, Mendelssohn to Rutter, and gospel favorites. From time to time, brass, percussion, and other musical instruments are added for a unique presentation. Throughout the year, special pieces are performed as part of the worhsip service or at separate times, such as Vespers. Past years have included a performance of Steven Porter's Jazz Mass, with an added jazz trio, Advent Lessons and Carols, Handel's Messiah, and selections from Faure's Requiem. A Christmas Eve Concert is an annual event.

From September through the end of May, the choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the nave then on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am prior to the 10:00 am regular worship service. During the months of June, July, and August, a summer choir rehearses only on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am for the 10:00 am service. We welcome new members at any time to participate on a regular basis or at seasonal times of the year.

Whether in the choir loft or in the congregation, we welcome all to "make a joyful noise."
