Resurrection’s First Annual Homecoming

On September 14 Church of the Resurrection will hold its First Annual Homecoming to welcome former parishioners for a day of worship, celebration, food, and fellowship. A reception will follow the service to provide a chance to renew acquaintances with old friends and to update them on what the Church of the Resurrection has been doing to be "the hands of the Lord in this place." This event is inspired by last year’s commemoration of Robert Reeves’ ministry as choir director when a number of former choir members and parishioners returned to honor Robert. Many who participated in the event commented on the sense of community and continuity they felt through re-connecting in this way. From this came the idea of an annual event and September 14 will be our first Resurrection Homecoming.

Right now you can help prepare for this event by contributing the names and addresses of former parishioners with whom you have kept in touch. We are not looking for contact information only for those who have moved away from the D.C. area; we recognize that many of these individuals will not be able to return for this event. But, we also know that there are many former parishioners who have moved within the metropolitan D.C. area and who now attend other churches closer to their new homes. Please share contact information for these individuals so that we can invite them to our Homecoming. The information can be sent to Kat Turner at ksturner@aamc.org or left at the church office marked for her attention.

Come to Choir Camp!

Attention all you 'like-to-sing'ers! (and this includes existing choir members!) Come join the fun at "Choir Camp" in the church hall on Saturday, September 13th. Everyone in the parish is invited to participate in this learning and singing extravaganza where the emphasis will be on choral singing. Don't worry if you've never learned to read music - simple instructions and expert guidance will be provided. "Choir Camp" will start at 9:30 a.m. with some basic theory on reading music notation for singers. Other topics will include sight-reading, diction and phrasing for singers and how to vocally blend in choral groups. Finally, we'll put it all together and sing as a choir, accompanied by our own organist extraordinaire, Sanelma Sutton. There will be a noontime break at which lunch will be provided. "Choir Camp" will end at approximately 3:00 p.m. Please contact Deena Jaworski at deekat@his.com or 703-698-0886 if you want to be a "camper." Come and sing the day away with the Resurrection Choir

LIVING  THE  QUESTIONS

Join us for a viewing of the remarkable video discussion series, "Living the Questions."  In this video series notable theologians and bible scholars hold up the value of being led through our journey toward faith,  not by easy answers, but by challenging questions.  Please join the discussion at 11: 15 am  each Sunday morning.  You are also invited to come to the service that takes place immediately before the video at 10 am.

TUESDAY  EVENING  BIBLE  DISCUSSION

A new group has formed to review and discuss the readings that we will hear the coming Sunday.  Please join us on Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 pm. All are warmly invited to attend.  To access the Sunday readings, click on the green button on the left of this page.

Come and see!
